How many eSIMs can I have?

Find out how many eSIM profiles your phone can hold and activate. Support varies on iPhone vs. Android.

Updated this week

Currently, iOS allows you to download 8+ eSIM profiles on your device, but you may only have up to 2 active eSIM profiles (for iPhone 13 and later) at one time. You can switch which eSIM profile is active under your iOS Settings > Cellular. Modern smartphones with eSIM capabilities offer flexibility for users who need multiple plans or travel frequently. For example, iPhone 14 and similar models support multiple eSIM profiles, allowing users to install eSIMs for different regions and switch between them as needed.

Managing multiple eSIMs on your device involves understanding installation and activation guidelines. For instance, you can install multiple eSIMs, such as a trial eSIM and a purchased eSIM, on the same device. Ensure that only one eSIM is active at a time to avoid conflicts.

On Android devices, number of eSIM profiles that you can have installed and the number of active eSIMs you can have vary from device to device. Please check your device specs for more information. Additionally, you can switch between installed eSIM profiles through your device settings, enabling the use of different plans for data, calls, or texts as needed. If your device prompts you to disable one eSIM to activate another, follow the instructions to temporarily deactivate the active eSIM.
